Each fishing boat will have a Hull Identification Number (HIN) located on the starboard transom, and it's important to note that the engine will have a separate VIN/serial number. For boats over 5 net tons, USCG documentation may be required alongside state titling. Trailers are usually titled separately, and managing VINs for both boat and trailer is crucial.
